iPads - I thought this was a cool toy and it is but it’s so much more. I’ve reduced my need to lug my laptop home every night by almost 70% and still get work done.

Bar mitzvahs - some of the funnest work we’ve done this year has been creating invitations and centerpieces for some really great parties. We really want to thank all of the families for giving us the creative freedom to make some really over the top stuff.

Words with friends - this is an amazing app for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. It’s like texting with a purpose. It’s scrabble that you play with other people over wi-fi and the free version is the same as the pay version but with ads. I’ve learned that QI is a word and that RA is not.

Newman - For those of you lucky enough to know Ira Newman you understand why we are thankful he is in our lives. He will probably hate this but the world is a funnier more inspiring place because of him and his crybaby hour.

hipstamatic - This is an app for the iPhone and the iPod Touch with a camera. It s a set of photo filters that produced this image of my niece. I wish they would make a camera.

Spain wins the world cup - all of us in the office have our family roots in Spain but none are as close as Melissa, who has dual citizenship. She watched every match via web and still got all of her work done. That is devotion.

http://www.retroist.com/ - as a child of the late 70s and early 80s I have found a web-based fountain of youth. The site is great fun and the podcast takes up most of the space on my iPod cause I don’t want to delete casts I’ve already listened to.

More spaces in the parking lot - though we miss our neighbors across the hall, it is nice to know I have a guaranteed parking space behind the office. That said if you are looking to move your office to a great space in the middle of the Gables with parking, there is a 660sq foot office across the hall available.

Food truck mania - I know this craze began in california and new york but who cares as long as we can share in the magic of exotic dining on the streets of Miami.

The candy bowl - Michelle keeps a bowl on her desk it usually holds some kind of wrapped seasonal candy it was empty for a couple of days this year while she was out of the office and even our UPS guy cried. Thanks to Michelle for keeping our sweet tooth at bay.

Gained 20lbs but already lost 7 - probably as a result of food truck mania and candy bowl abuse, and angry birds is not exercise. Everything in moderation.

Bring your dog to work - Well this applies mostly Melissa. Napoleon, seen here, visits and sleeps in the office regularly and defends us from delivery persons.

Podcasts - Because they don't play music I like on the radio and because I don't want to pay for satellite radio and because it relaxes me to hear people talking about stuff that doesn't matter. You can pretty much find a podcast about anything you want to listen to.

the tron sequel - THE TRON SEQUAL!!!!!!! I have been waiting for this since I was 10 getting up from my seat at the Miracle Theater when they showed movies and the credits ran on the original TRON. It changed my life and probably lead me to design.

Gold Addy?

So we got a call the other day from a great printer we had worked on a project with. They were calling to confirm our address because they were sending us something. Turns out they had submitted the project to the Fort Lauderdale chapter of the American Advertising Federation's Addy Awards and our project received a Gold Addy. I love getting awards for contests we didn't submit work to. And in case you were wondering, YES that is fluorescent orange ink on the project. GO DAYGLO.

I want to thank everyone at Rex Three, Alex Stueben, Joey Costello, and everyone else at Rex Three who worked on the project. Also I want to thank Siinc Agency for bringing us in on the project and Anja at Audi USA for her vision.
